Silicon carbide (SiC) is an inorganic non‑metallic material featuring high hardness, excellent wear resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, high thermal conductivity and outstanding chemical corrosion resistance. Compared with zirconia (ZrO₂) bearing materials, it is suitable for more aggressive corrosive environments.
SAVI silicon carbide bearings adopt new‑generation hot‑isostatically‑sintered silicon carbide (SSiC). Manufactured from high‑purity fine powder with additives by compression forming and sintered at high temperature via isostatic sintering process, this material is high‑purity, high‑density and free of free silicon. Isostatically‑sintered SSiC outperforms other engineering ceramics such as zirconia and reaction‑bonded silicon carbide in hardness, strength, corrosion resistance, high‑temperature resistance and impact resistance.
Rings and rolling elements of full‑ceramic silicon‑carbide bearings are made of isostatically‑sintered silicon carbide (SSiC) ceramic. PTFE is used as the standard cage material.
